November Arts Round-up: First Bite, a Last Chance and Big Changes

First Bite

This week at 40 restaurants around Boulder County, First Bite — the 11th annual Boulder Restaurant Week — gives guests a taste of new places and favorites for only $29. For this price, three course prix-fixe menus are available at participating locations, and at some a tasting menu at $18. In Boulder, Longmont, Niwot, Louisville, Lyons and Westminster, First Bite gives residents and visitors a chance to try something savory as the holiday season approaches. Find out more at

Last Chance

As winter finally descends upon Boulder, the HOVAB series will soon draw to a close. Be sure to check out the final two months’ events and exhibitions throughout town. This week, join printmaker Melanie Yazzie at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, and see Home-Contemporary Indigenous Artists Responding before it closes on Nov. 20. Big Changes

The Kirkland Museum in Denver was moved this weekend — literally. To join with its facility, the 106 year old studio museum was uprooted from 1311 Pearl Street in Denver to its new location at 12th and Bannock on Nov. 6. These challenging seven blocks the studio traversed will give the new museum location 60 percent more exhibition space and a better visitor experience.

And the new host of A Prairie Home Companion, Chris Thile, will be at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House on Saturday, Nov. 19. Don’t miss the show’s first road tour since Thile took the wheel. Tickets are $45 to $75, available at
