A 47-year veteran of the fire service received the state’s highest leadership award, DUI enforcement began for Halloween weekend, and the state provided an update on what sex offenders on parole must not do on Halloween night.
Veteran firefighter and fire chief Bruce Mygatt received the George Mazzotti Fire Chief of the Year Award from the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control on Oct. 19. The award is named for a distinguished Colorado fire chief and recognizes leadership and integrity in public service. Mygatt leads Boulder Rural Fire Rescue.
Boulder County law enforcement agencies began a state-wide DUI crackdown on Oct. 28. Police and sheriff’s deputies will be on heightened alert and the Colorado State Patrol will operate DUI checkpoints. The program runs through Nov. 1.
Sex offenders currently on parole are prohibited from passing out candy, decorating their residence or having outside lights on Halloween night according to the Colorado Department of Corrections. The rule only applies to sex offenders on parole — not all convicted sex offenders are on parole and may pass out candy. Be forewarned.
