Communities across the United States prepare for a winter on the streets

Local organization collects coats for Boulder County’s homeless.
As the days got colder Coats for Colorado began asking for winter clothing donations for the homeless community in Boulder County. Coats for Colorado plans to donate all the new and used coats to Deacon’s Closet or elementary schools throughout the county, reported the Daily Camera.


A Californian city plans to establish more winter services for the homeless.
According to The Daily Californian, the City Council of Berkeley, California recommended the city manager create more emergency warming shelters and it promised to open another shelter before winter begins.

Texans band together in hopes of reducing deaths due to exposure.
The Homeless Outreach Team of the Lubbock Police Department and businesses throughout the city will come together October 29, 2016 to accept clothing and other items needed to survive winter on the streets, according to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.
