Boulder artist Sarah McKenzie is intrigued by gallery walls. More specifically, she is interested in capturing the idea of space – both private and public. Her latest show, White Walls, is a series of paintings that explores the architectural and interior design of art museum galleries.
“My paintings capture architecture and/or the built environment in a state of flux,” said McKenzie in her website’s statement. “…the spaces in these paintings are at once austere and lavish; makeshift and highly controlled; impersonal and sacred.”
White Walls is on display at the David B. Smith Gallery until Oct. 8.
