Local production of “The Outgoing Tide” explores the aging process

In Boulder, art doesn’t have an age limit.

Established in 2002, the Society for Aging Creatively affords seniors the opportunity to explore their creative side. This weekend VIVA, the Society’s theater troupe will be performing “The Outgoing Tide” by playwright Bruce Graham.

The play tells the story of Gunner, a Philidelphia patriarch with Alzheimers, and his complex relationship with his wife and son. Familial bonds are tested as an important decision regarding Gunner’s future is contested. Living together in a vacation home for a summer, the reality of aging, past mistakes and disease haunt the family.

The show is scheduled for two performances at the Nomad Playhouse at 7 p.m. Sept.30 and Oct.1. Tickets range from $12-$15.
