The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office has reinstated its prescription drug disposal program after being cut earlier in 2015 due to low funding. The medication disposal process is incredibly expensive, but after hundreds of people continued to show up to try and dispose of their medicine, the DEA said they would fund the program again. People can dispose of their unwanted medications at the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office headquarters at 5600 Flatiron Parkway from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Emergency Family Assistance Association and Fresca Foods have partnered to provide more than 1,000 Boulder County families in need with a week’s worth of food including ingredients for Thanksgiving staples. The EFAA says that the rising cost of housing in the county is a large contributor to many families food insecurities so this is not just an issue at this time of year. Baskets were put together on Friday, Nov. 6 and will be distributed on Nov. 14.
The 3rd Annual Boulder County Horse Fair will be held on Sunday, Nov. 15 at the Boulder Country Fairgrounds located at 9595 Nelson Road in Longmont. The fair will have vendors and exhibitors from all realms of the equestrian world and there is an equine dentistry demonstration from noon to 1 p.m. presented by Amber Zagrodski, DVM. Proceeds from the fair support the non-profit Boulder County Horse Association and go toward unifying the equestrian community of Boulder County through recreation and education.
