Renowned primatologist and environmentalist Jane Goodall spoke to and met with Boulder County Jail inmates on Friday morning. The visit is the last on her trip through Boulder, where she also spoke to students at the University of Colorado and Horizon K-8 School. The inmates participate in the jail’s chapter of the Roots & Shoots program, which Goodall established in 1991 to educate young people about environmental issues and empower them to bring positive change to their communities.
After three weeks, prosecutors rested their case Thursday against the accused murderers of Nathaniel Tallman with their final two witnesses, a detective who interrogated the prosecution’s star witness and a cellphone data expert who traced calls made to and from the defendants the day of the murder. The defense called no witnesses, meaning the evidence portion of the trial has come to an end. Closing statements are set for Tuesday.
Boulder police arrested Robert John Reed, 46, early Friday morning in connection to the armed robbery of a Chase Bank branch earlier in the week. The robbery occurred at the Chase Bank on 3325 28th Street on Monday afternoon, where a man demanded money and threatened a teller with what he claimed was a bomb in a duffel bag. Police say the robber made off with an undisclosed amount of money, a significant amount of which was recovered after the arrest.
