Education is important.  It’s also expensive. This week, a variety of issues give insight into Colorado schools’ financial situations.

Board OKs outside building study

It appears Boulder Valley School District isn’t the only district looking to improve school facilites.  Pueblo City School Board voted and passed a motion on Tuesday to hire Wold Architects to conduct a structural, mechanical and electrical assessment on schools in the district.

Wold Architects gets $44,000 out of the deal.

Colorado’s education formula that cuts funding ruled constitutional

BVSD school board members expressed disappointment at Tuesday’s board meeting about the state Supreme Court’s recent ruling concerning educational funding.

The court ruled in a 4-3 decision that the state’s funding cuts to education since 2010 of more than $1 billion per year do not violate the state constitution.

Larimer approves Berthoud school resource officer; Thompson school board up next

School districts north of Boulder work to improve safety to students at Turner Middle School.

Larimer County commissioners, the town of Berthoud, and Thompson School District come together to hire a school resource officer for the middle school.  The cost of the $100,000 investment will be split between Berthoud and Thompson School District.
