Following decisions by grand juries in St. Louis and New York not to indict the police officers involved in the deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner, protesters have taken to the streets nationwide. Demonstrators show solidarity for the families of the two men and bring attention to more localized issues related to race, police brutality and public safety. Evidence of racial disparity in arrests in Boulder has encouraged many to reexamine race relations here: is the community as tolerant as it thinks it is?
