Koch brothers use Republican Senate to fight wind energy

Conservative groups seek to take advantage of the newly Republican Senate to eliminate tax credit for wind power. Groups like Americans for Prosperity and American Energy Alliance, who are heavily funded by the oil billionaire Koch brothers, are behind the effort, according to the Colorado Independent.

Udall making a grand exit

With his remaining seven weeks as a U.S. Senator, Mark Udall is pushing to publicize CIA reports of torturous interrogation techniques and pass a bill to put checks on the NSA. Udall told the Denver Post that he would “keep all options on the table,” to fulfill his closing goals as Senator.

Ladies lead Colorado House Democrats

Democrats unanimously selected Rep. Dickie Lee Hullinghorst of Boulder to be the next House speaker, according to 7News Denver. Hullinghorst will replace Mark Ferrandino representing District 10 which covers part of Boulder and Gunbarrel. Friday’s elections hailed the first fully female top leadership team in Colorado history.
