What’s New Politics: Nov. 7

By Mollie Putzig

Student Government

The Diversity Summit Nov. 11 and 12 will address the University of Colorado Boulder’s great and terrible diversity. Academic diversity runs the gamut, but other forms of diversity are lacking on a campus that identifies as 70 percent white and 56 percent male.

City Government

The city of Boulder was one of seven communities to pass legislation allowing local government to provide high speed Internet. Boulder city residents passed ballot issue 2C by the largest margin of any local ballot issue in all of Boulder County, with 84 percent in favor.

County Government

Colorado government will likely not go the way of the nation. Republicans conceded Friday morning that they will not be able to gain the advantage in the Colorado House, according to the Denver Post. Current counts show Democrats with a five-seat majority.
